John Taylor Arms (1887-1953) was an Amereican etcher born in Washington DC, studying law at Princeton University and then architecture at MIT. It was after he served in WWI that he committed to etching full time producing his first works in 1919. Known for his fine level of detail, he used sewing needles and magnifying glasses to produce this etchings. Arms was a featured artist associated with the 1932 Summer Olympics. Etching depicts an old corner of Rouen, the port city in France that boasts medieval timbered homes. Original etching is hand numbered 17/75 and hand-signed by artist, as well as in the plate. Presented under glass, double matting, and wooden frame. Hang ready. Frame measures 11.25” x 14.75” x 1.25” (WxHxD).
