Vintage Chinese Painted Sancai Glazed Horse Ceramic Tile

Vintage Chinese Painted Sancai Glazed Horse Ceramic Tile

$200.00

Chinese painted sancai glazed ceramic tile depicting a horse drawn carriage. Sancai is a technique of Chinese pottery using predominantly three colors slips and glazes: brown, green, and a creamy off-white. The technique involves firing the pottery twice, first at a high temperature to create a hard body, and then at a lower temperature to bring out the colors of the glaze. Wear is consistent with age and use. Tile measures 11.5” x 7” x 1.25” (WxHxD). Stand not included.
