Colorful 1950’s Kashmiri chain stitched tapestry featuring a wide array of people and animals. Chain-stitch tapestries are an ancient Kashmiri art form, using jute and a cheese cloth-like fabric. The designs are first sketched on the fabric and then, using a tool much like a latch hook, the wool is pulled through from the back in a chain-stitch fashion, first the outline and then the fill colors and detail. This eye-catching piece would be a beautiful addition to any home. There is no hardware present for hanging. Tapestry measures 46.5” x 69” x .5” (WxHxD).
