Day-of-Sale Attendant: 10.5 hrs/week, $16/hr.
Flipside is seeking an individual who will be able to assist with tasks performed on the days of weekly estate sales; Friday 8:30 AM - 2:15 PM + Saturday 9:30 AM - 2:15 PM. This is a customer service position assisting Flipside Shoppers and making theirexperience positive!
Expected Tasks:
• Pre-sale setup tasks may include:
- Do a walk-through of the property, making yourself familiar with the home’s
layout and the items presented in the sale.
- Assist with any final tasks of hanging sale signs, setting up hold tables, popping
the outdoor tent, making sure supplies for hold tables are stocked (hold table
name sheets, tally sheets, post-it notes, dry erase markers, etc).
• Sale time tasks include:
- Be friendly, kind, and helpful.
- Greet customers as they enter the property, inform them about the layout of the
property (“don’t miss the basement, there are also items in the garage, find
items in the shed as well, etc”). If it's Day 2 of the sale, inform customers that
items are 50% off that day.
- If you are assigned a specific zone of the home, assist customers in this area
while maintaining an eye on any “funny business” - People, unfortunately, do
steal from time to time, switch tags, and remove tags. You are not expected to
approach customers, but please inform the day-of-sale lead to handle the
situation.
- Assist customers in getting items out to the hold table area to keep
shoppers’ hands open for more purchases. We try to train the customer to bring
their own items out so they can see where their items are being placed and
make sure they keep their own eye on the items they’ve selected. It’s just as
important to keep a good eye on items of higher value in the area that you are
maintaining. Hold tables are a good way for us to keep our eye on things as well
and they’re not being carried around in shopping bags for someone to
potentially walk off with.
- Assist customers interested in large objects. If a customer wants to purchase a
piece of furniture, write their name on our specific laminated “hold” sign and
take the barcode tag to the register or with their “hold” name sheet sleeve. Once
customer has made payment, mark the barcode tag with a sold sticker, and
Place it back on the object if the customer is not immediately removing it at that
time.
- Maintain the tidiness of the home- create a shoppable space, push higher value
items forward, tidy bookshelves or spaces that appear disheveled, re-hang
fallen clothing, fold textiles, etc.
- If there is a jewelry cabinet present and you are assigned to it, you don’t need
to stand in place the whole time, but try to stay close or keep an eye on when a
customer may want to look inside. One person is designated as the key holder
for the sale. One customer in the cabinet at a time. They are allowed to touch
and see objects in the cabinet, but please keep an eye on their movements.
- If you have an interest in working the cash register or tallying up customers for
payment, you will receive training accordingly. These tasks require an individual
to be quick on their feet with unmarked price points and counting cash.
• Post-sale tasks:
- Doing a final tidy-up so we are ready for the next day’s sale. Also, there are
times when clients or their family members walk through after we are gone, and
we want them to feel their home and their objects are respected.
- Do a quick broom sweep or vacuum as needed.
- If blinds should be closed, do so. Turn off the lights.
- Assist in tearing down the hold table area; store back in the garage or load up
Flipside van as needed.
